New Business Manager

We’re looking for a sales professional to join our team of creative storytellers at Rock Paper Scissors!  The New Business Manager secures clients for our PR and media relations services. Rock Paper Scissors, a music-technology PR firm, is looking for a New Business Manager to generate business for our public relations services.  Clients are music technology and innovation companies from all over the world looking to increase their reputation and visibility through media attention. Clients span all phases of business, from start-ups to well established household names.  The New Business Manager works closely with the CEO, COO and director of Marketing to develop marketing and sales strategies to generate and convert leads.  Position uses company systems for managing leads, proposals, contracts, and workflows.  The COO supervises this position.


–  Cultivate a network of potential leads for clients in the music technology industry through a variety of methods including; conference attendance, email solicitation, social media direct messages and phone calls.

– Understand how PR and the Rock Paper Scissors approach will help each respective client accomplish their goals within the music industry; gathering enough information from them in sales conversations to produce a relevant and compelling proposal.

– Write timely successful, customized proposals that lead to signed contracts.

– Cultivate an ideal customer journey and guide clients through the process, to a smooth successful hand-off to the PR team.

– Represent Rock Paper Scissors as a brand.

Success will be measured by:

– Top of funnel leads in system

– # of sales calls, # of proposals, # of contracts

– conversion from leads to proposals

– meeting monthly sales goals and % of operational capacity


 – Working knowledge and enthusiasm for music, technology, entrepreneurship and business.  Demonstrated ability to understand complex business models built around emerging techologies.

– A personality and spirit for work in sales. Ability to follow-through and close deals.  Motivated to meet sales goals.

– Technologically proficient in the use of CRMs, email marketing, social media, cloud-based document sharing and other computer-based programs.

– At least 3 years of professional relevant work experience in sales, music industry, public relations, technology, marketing, or other

– Bachelors degree required.

Type of Employment and Working Environment:

The position is a full-time, salaried exempt position.  Our office is located in Bloomington, Indiana.  Ideally  looking for someone in the Bloomington area to be in the office 3 days per week, but may be open to fully remote (applicant dependent).  This is a computer-based desk job, with significant time spent on video, phone, and email.  Travel to 4-6 conferences per year for lead-generating purposes is expected

Compensation will include base salary and commission. Benefit package includes health, vision, dental and life insurance, retirement plan, and generous PTO (12 paid holidays, 12 paid vacation days, and winter break the last two weeks of every year).
